This is the first instalment of the excursions that I went on whilst I was on holiday. So if you wanna see lots of pictures then keep on scrolling, as boy do I have loads for you.
Also, bear in mind the range on my camera is not great for zooming in, so you will have to do a lot of squinting to see what I took pictures of, don’t worry, I shall caption then, so you know what you are looking for.
Tl;dr – What will you get to do?
You get a boat ride along the National Park of Palo Verde, where you can get to snap some wildlife in their natural habit. We saw some little crocodiles, monkeys. bats, some interesting birds and some incredible plants! You’ll get to visit a traditional cowboy house which is only 100 years old. And there we saw lots of iguanas and bats too. We then learnt a bit more about Costa Rican culture, about how the sugar cane is made. We got to taste some local corn treats along with some good old Costa Rican coffee!
Traditional Cowboy House
What do you need?
Insect Repellent – this is not negotiable unless you prefer to be bitten.
Sun tan lotion – even if it is cloudy, cover yourself, I learnt that the hard way.
Camera + Zoom lens- the main part of this tour is being able to see animals in their natural habit in the wild, so bring the camera not to miss these moments. I really regret not purchasing a zoom lens, as it’s hard to capture the images you want with a standard kit lens.
Cash – should you want to buy some souvenirs at the shop, I got loads of magnets on this excursion.
Jacket – it can rain, but when we went in didn’t. It is good to keep yourself covered though, so I wore a kimono to keep as much skin covered as possible to avoid being bitten.
Trainers or comfy shoes – I wouldn’t recommend wearing flip flops, so wear some trainers and you’ll be good to go.
Water – keep yourself hydrated.
What’s included food & drink wise?
As soon as you arrive at the first destination, you are given coffee, fresh fruit juice and some fruit to snack on.
There is a light lunch later on when you are learning about the sugar cane and the corn snacks, but not gonna lie I was so happy to go back to the hotel, as it was like nibbles and not like a lunch lunch – if you get me?
The coffee is SOOOOOO good, seriously enjoy!
How much did this cost?
95 USD each
